Black-coloured wings

Black-coloured Wings

 - Ishana Ghosh

She loved the darkness,
too much it would seem.
She longed  for light with fervour,
all the while knowing
that the dark aura would never let her go,
or to be more precise,
she could never let go of the darkness.
How could she?
It was so alluring,
it was the one pull she couldn't resist.
Those cold fingers sliced through her,
and all she felt was warmth;
it was so familiar, that it felt
she knew it from even before she was born.
The only thing she could wish for, now,
was a pair of wings, preferably black in colour,
so she could have real peace,
and take off into the deep, dark sky,
which waits for her as intently,
as she waits to finally be free.
